💬 Get Help and Change Your Setup with Chat with Settings

Chat with Settings: the Brainbox robot with the Chat with Settings prompt box on a purple background

Chat with Settings is the one chat in Brainbox that knows all about Wavebox. Ask it how something works, or ask it to make the change for you: add an app, create a Space, switch your theme or change your webdock layout. It's pinned to the top of your Brainbox chat history, always one click away, and free to use.

🤖
How Brainbox fits together — Brainbox is Wavebox’s AI and it works in two ways. Chats with your tabs: the side panel works with your open tabs from every Space — @-mention any tab, trigger / Skills, and pick your engine (or add your own keys, or use the free on-device model from Brainbox Local AI). Each chat stays attached to the tab that was in focus when you opened it, and no conversation is ever out of reach — tap the ☰ menu > History to reopen any chat, any time, and carry on right where you left off. Paid plans include 1 million free tokens every month. And one special chat — Chat with Settings (this one): the only chat that can actually change Wavebox. It sees your whole setup, remembers across sessions, and doesn’t use your tokens — ask it to change colours, add or remove apps, find a setting, or give you a 7-day Wavebox training course.

Open Chat with Settings

There are six ways in:

  • From the new chat screen. Click the Brainbox icon in the toolbar, and there's a Chat with Settings link right on the new chat screen.
  • From your chat history. Click the menu icon at the top left of the Brainbox panel: Chat with Settings is pinned at the top.
  • With @settings. Type @settings at the start of a message in any Brainbox chat, and it goes straight to Chat with Settings.
  • Just ask. Ask a Wavebox question in any Brainbox chat, whichever engine it's running on, and Brainbox suggests Chat with Settings with a link that takes you straight there.
  • From the Settings menu. Hover over the Settings cog in the bottom left and click Chat with Settings.
  • Inside Settings. Open Settings and Chat with Settings is built in, so you can ask for a change right where the settings live.

What you can ask

Questions. Ask anything about Wavebox, from “What's the difference between a Space and a Group?” to “Why do I keep getting signed out?”. Answers link to the Knowledge Base articles that go into more detail.

Changes. Ask in plain words and Brainbox does it for you, for example:

  • “Add Trello to my Projects Group.”
  • “Create a new Space called Clients.”
  • “Switch to the List layout.”
  • “Make Wavebox dark mode.”

For everything it can change, see Brainbox Tool Calling.

Your own setup. Ask “How many Spaces do I have?” or “Which Group is my Gmail app in?” and it looks through your Wavebox to tell you.

Show me how. If you'd like to see where a setting lives, ask “Show me how to change an app's sleep settings” and it opens Settings in the right place. Most of the time, though, the quickest thing is to ask it to make the change for you.

Good to know

  • Chat with Settings is free to use. Conversations there don't use your Brainbox token allowance.
  • It works on your Wavebox only: your Spaces, Groups, apps and settings.
  • If it doesn't know the answer, or can't make a change, it will say so.
  • You'll need Brainbox turned on. It's on by default with a Wavebox Pro trial or subscription (Settings → General → Brainbox).
  • It remembers across sessions. Regular Brainbox chats remember within their own conversation — Chat with Settings is one ongoing chat that builds on what you’ve told it before.

If you get stuck, a human is always here at support@wavebox.io.

“I've been personally replying to support tickets since Wavebox began, and that will continue. But I'm hoping Chat with Settings can lighten the load a bit by helping new users get set up and learn the Wavebox basics!” Susan (Co-Founder)
