Brainbox: Pop-Out Panels and Multi-Window Workflows

Pop-out panels allow you to detach the Brainbox panel from the sidebar and open it as a floating window. This is useful for multitasking, comparing outputs side by side, or working across multiple monitors without switching focus between Wavebox windows.

How to Pop Out the Brainbox Panel

  1. Open the Brainbox panel in the main Wavebox window
  2. Look for the "open" icon (square with arrow) in the top-right corner of the panel, next to the X
  3. Click the icon to pop out the Brainbox panel into its own floating window

The pop-out window can be dragged anywhere on your screen, including to a second or third monitor if you have a multi-monitor setup.

Working with Pop-Out Windows

Keep Conversations While Switching Focus

One of the key advantages of pop-out panels is that Brainbox continues to work even when you're focused on other applications. You can:

  • Use Brainbox while working in another browser tab
  • Reference Brainbox while composing an email
  • Brainstorm in Brainbox while editing a document in another window
  • Keep multiple pop-out conversations visible simultaneously

Multi-Window Workflows

Pop-out panels are ideal for workflows that require comparing or cross-referencing information:

  • Comparing outputs — pop out two conversations side by side to compare Brainbox responses
  • Cross-referencing client work — place a Brainbox pop-out next to your CRM or project management tool
  • Multi-monitor setup — position pop-outs across different monitors for a personalized workspace layout
  • Different Spaces — pop out panels from different Spaces and reference them together

Context and Independence

Each pop-out window maintains its own conversation thread and context. If you pop out the Brainbox panel, close it, and then pop out again, you'll get a fresh conversation — the previous chat history won't carry over. This independence is useful for keeping different projects or topics separate.

Closing a Pop-Out Window

Click the X button in the top-right corner of the pop-out window to close it. The Brainbox panel will remain available in the main Wavebox window.

Tips

  • Use the main Brainbox panel for quick, focused tasks
  • Use pop-outs for longer workflows where you need side-by-side reference
  • Combine pop-outs with different Spaces to organize conversations by project or topic
